There haven't been a lot of opportunities over the past few years for geoscience students to work for mineral exploration companies over the summer. Some essential skills, such as core logging, are not taught in the class room but they appear on every junior geologist job description. So how can you get that job?

Maybe we can help! This Spring Break (February 20 - 23) we are running a Core Logging Workshop. Wallbridge Mining is going to host our group and their experienced geologists are going to go over the basics and give you the opportunity to get a week of hands-on experience. This will give you a great opportunity to prepare for the big PDAC conference and to nail down a fantastic summer job!

This experience is open to any geoscience students or recent grads in Canada. There is no charge, but you will have to pay for your own expenses (e.g. travel, accommodation, meals). This can be cheap if you have a place to crash in Sudbury, if you don't mind sharing a motel room with another participant, or if you're up for carpooling. We can try to help you figure out the cheapest way to make it happen!

To apply just send us your resume and either a 1-page essay or a 1-minute video to let us know why you want to work in mineral exploration and how you think this experience will benefit your career aspirations. Please send your application by email to info@nextgengeo.ca (Subject: Core Logging Workshop) no later than midnight on Monday, February 12. We encourage you to also post your essay / video to social media and tag Next Gen Geo in your post!

This workshop is possible thanks to the support of our partners and sponsors
