What's It All About?
The purpose of this group is to prepare young geoscientists for the jobs of the future by inspiring, advancing knowledge, and promoting hands-on experience in machine learning within our community. We will host machine learning workshops and events designed to build practical skills in data science applications for geoscience.
Important Prerequisite
You won't get anything out of our machine learning meetings without a basic understanding of coding. The two languages that are most useful to ML are Python and R.
Getting Started
Learn to Code
Please find an online course in Python or R (there are some good free ones out there) and capture a screenshot of your certificate of completion to secure your place the first time you register!
Monthly Meetings
Our machine learning group meets on the third Tuesday of every month. Space is limited and registration is required through Eventbrite.
Registration Required
If you register and can no longer attend please notify us so we can open up a spot for someone else. Registration ensures we maintain optimal group size for hands-on learning.
